London-based healthcare startup Asterix Health has secured £2.1 million in pre-seed funding to expand its remote workforce platform for NHS primary care providers.

The round was led by Triple Point, with participation from D2, Entrepreneurs First, Basis Capital, DLB Ventures, and several angel investors.

Building A Global GP Workforce For The NHS

Founded in 2024 by Julian Titz and Max Thilo, the company connects NHS GP practices with GMC-registered doctors working remotely from countries including Australia, Malaysia, and India.

These remote doctors support UK practices through telephone consultations, patient triage, and clinical administration tasks.

The founders launched Asterix Health after personally experiencing challenges within the healthcare system and recognising the growing pressure on NHS primary care caused by staff shortages and increasing patient demand.

Remote Infrastructure For Primary Care

The company says it is the first approved provider operating under updated NHS regulations that allow GMC-registered doctors based overseas to work within UK primary care systems.

Its proprietary platform, DoctorOS, integrates directly with NHS electronic patient record systems such as EMIS and SystmOne, enabling secure access to patient data and streamlined remote care delivery.

Asterix currently supports GP practices serving approximately 250,000 patients and says its platform helps free up more than one GP session per day per practice.

To date, the company reports that over 3,000 hours of care have been delivered through its remote care network.

Expanding NHS Partnerships And Technology

The newly raised funding will be used to onboard additional NHS practices, grow the company’s global network of remote GPs, and further develop its technology platform.

Asterix Health estimates that broader adoption of its model could generate annual savings of between £250 million and £300 million for UK primary care services.

According to CEO Julian Titz, the platform helps increase the overall pool of available GPs rather than simply redistributing doctors across the healthcare system.

Strategic Medical Lead Mike Bewick added that the NHS already has access to qualified talent globally but requires better infrastructure and workforce models to deploy it effectively.
