Spain-based Humara has secured €1.2 million in Seed funding to expand its AI-driven platform for waste and recycling infrastructure and launch a new real-time operational assistant for plant operators.

The round was led by Impact Shakers, with participation from Inclimo and existing investors including Zubi Capital and Ship2B Ventures.

Replacing Outdated Systems In Waste Infrastructure

Founded in 2021 by Laura Rodríguez Álvarez, Martín Nogueira Salgueiro, and Víctor González, Humara develops software designed to modernise the engineering and operation of recycling and waste management facilities.

Its platform replaces fragmented spreadsheets and legacy CAD workflows with a physics-based simulation system capable of modelling 82 different waste materials through real separation processes. According to the company, this reduces plant design timelines from months to just days.

From Plant Design To Real-Time Operations

The platform includes two main products:

  • Humara Design — focused on plant modelling, equipment sizing, and scenario simulation
  • Humara Operate — a digital twin platform for live operational management

The operational layer integrates SCADA systems, optical sorting data, and plant KPIs to provide predictive insights and real-time decision support.

The company is also introducing Duplantis, an AI copilot designed to support plant-floor decision-making and improve operational responsiveness.

Growing Adoption Across Europe And Latin America

Humara says its platform has already been used in the design of more than 250 facilities across Europe and Latin America.

Its customer base includes major industry players such as Veolia, FCC, PreZero, EGF, Ecoembes, and Bianna.

Early deployments have reportedly delivered measurable improvements in material recovery, landfill reduction, operating efficiency, and profitability.

Expanding Across New Markets And Waste Streams

With the new funding, Humara plans to scale its technology into additional European and Latin American markets while expanding into new waste categories.

The company also intends to strengthen its commercial operations and grow its team to support further product development and deployment.

CEO Laura Rodríguez Álvarez said the company’s mission is to modernise an industry still heavily reliant on outdated tools, despite the long-term impact of infrastructure decisions made today.
