Munich-based Mobility Signage has secured €1.8 million in pre-seed funding to tackle one of public transport’s biggest challenges: fragmented and outdated IT systems.
The round was led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), with participation from 2bX. The company plans to use the funding to expand its team and accelerate development of its data platform and application layer.
Unifying Disconnected Transport Systems
Public transport operators across Europe are dealing with decades-old, siloed IT infrastructures, while passengers increasingly expect real-time, seamless digital experiences.
Mobility Signage addresses this gap with a central data architecture that integrates existing systems instead of replacing them. Its platform acts as a unified data layer, standardising interfaces and enabling consistent real-time passenger information across all channels — from station displays and mobile apps to announcement systems.
Co-founder Stefan Rademacher explains the approach: operators don’t need more standalone tools, but a system that connects everything into one scalable structure.
Strong Adoption Across Germany
The platform is already in use by major transport operators, including Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen (SSB), Deutsche Bahn, and Rostocker Straßenbahn (RSAG).
This early traction highlights the scalability of its modular architecture across both regional and large-scale transit networks. The company is also working with hardware manufacturers as development partners, reinforcing its open and integration-focused approach.
Building A Transport Operating System
Mobility Signage is positioning itself as a vertical operating system for public transport. Its first modules automate key workflows such as disruption communication and construction updates, helping operators reduce complexity while improving passenger experience.
A Growing Market Opportunity
The global Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) market continues to expand, driven by urbanisation, sustainability goals, and increasing demand for efficient mobility solutions.
HTGF’s Tizian Hoppen noted that operators face mounting pressure from legacy systems, labour shortages, and rising ridership — making scalable, AI-driven infrastructure increasingly critical.
