Norwegian defence technology startup Stendr has raised $5.4 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round to accelerate development of its AI-driven defence platform.
The round was co-led by RainFall, ACME, and SkyFall, with participation from Sisyphus, Antler, StartupLab, Off Piste, and Andøya Ventures, alongside a group of international founders and investors.
Building An Integrated Defence Technology Stack
Headquartered in Oslo, Stendr is developing a vertically integrated platform that combines hardware, software, and artificial intelligence into a unified defence system.
The company’s first area of focus is drone defence. Its technology uses AI-powered multi-sensor systems built into cost-efficient hardware to improve detection, tracking, and situational awareness in fast-changing operational environments.
Responding To A New Battlefield Reality
Stendr is building for a defence landscape increasingly shaped by low-cost autonomous systems. As drones become more capable and more widely deployed, traditional defence approaches are struggling to keep pace.
The company aims to address this gap with adaptive technologies designed to help operators identify threats earlier, follow them more accurately, and respond with better information in real time.
Funding To Accelerate Product Development
The newly raised capital will be used to speed up development of Stendr’s multi-sensor platform, grow its engineering and hardware teams, and support deployment across defence use cases.
The company says its long-term goal is to strengthen Europe’s sovereign defence capabilities with technology designed and built for modern operational demands.
Experienced Team With Deep Technical Backgrounds
Stendr’s founding team brings experience across software, AI, hardware, and company building, with a background in scaling technology businesses and delivering complex engineering systems.
That combination positions the company to build systems that are not only technically advanced but also ready for real-world deployment.
