Financial News Systems (FNS), an AI-powered financial newsroom, has secured €1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Ugly Duckling Ventures.

The funding will support the continued development of its real-time financial data and news platform, as investor interest in AI-driven analytics and enterprise financial infrastructure continues to grow across Europe.

What The Company Does

FNS builds specialised artificial intelligence models designed to extract and structure insights from financial press releases and regulatory filings. Its platform delivers real-time data to investors and analysts, reducing the latency typically associated with manual reporting processes.

Unlike traditional financial newsrooms, FNS operates without journalists, relying instead on automated systems to gather, interpret, and distribute information at scale. The platform currently covers approximately 9,000 companies across the United States, Canada, and Europe, offering users continuous access to structured financial intelligence.

The company has also established partnerships with Dow Jones and FactSet, integrating its data capabilities within existing financial information ecosystems.

Market Context / Industry Background

The funding comes amid broader momentum in AI-driven financial software, particularly in tools focused on data extraction, analytics, and decision-making support. Across Europe, similar companies have raised significant capital, reflecting increasing demand for infrastructure that can process large volumes of financial information in real time.

This shift highlights a move beyond consumer-facing fintech toward enterprise-grade solutions that improve operational efficiency and information accuracy. Collectively, recent funding activity in this segment has reached approximately €94 million, underscoring sustained investor confidence in AI-led financial intelligence platforms.

As financial markets become more data-intensive, the ability to automate the interpretation of disclosures and filings is emerging as a key competitive factor for investment professionals. In this context, platforms that can integrate multiple data sources, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver actionable insights with minimal latency are gaining strategic importance. Additionally, the convergence of AI with cloud infrastructure and API-based distribution models is enabling broader adoption across asset managers, hedge funds, and financial institutions seeking scalable, cost-efficient intelligence solutions.

Founder / Investor Commentary

Gelu Sulugiuc, co-founder and CEO of FNS, emphasised the platform’s role in automating core newsroom functions, stating that its models “replace the need for financial journalists to manually gather, read, distill and distribute this news and data, making financial information faster, more accurate and more accessible, at scale.”

Andreas Green Rasmussen, co-founder and general partner at Ugly Duckling Ventures, highlighted both the product and the founding team as key factors behind the investment. He noted that the platform combines “raw speed with intelligent automation” to provide an advantage for investment professionals, adding that the founders’ prior experience in building and exiting similar ventures contributed to their confidence.

Growth Plans / Use Of Funds

The newly raised capital will be used to expand FNS’s AI capabilities into additional financial data segments, including IPO activity, insider trading, macroeconomic indicators, central bank decisions, and company fundamentals.

The company also plans to further scale its platform coverage and enhance its data processing infrastructure, with the goal of broadening its relevance for institutional investors and analysts.
