Renasens, a DeepTech company focused on textile recycling, has raised €10 million in a seed funding round led by Extantia, with participation from Course Corrected VC and continued backing from Norrsken Launcher.

The funding will support the development of its recycling technology and the expansion of its operations across European markets.

What The Company Does

Founded in 2022, Renasens develops fibre-to-fibre recycling technology designed to process post-consumer textile waste. Its system addresses the challenge of recycling blended and treated fabrics, which are difficult to handle using conventional methods.

The company uses a modified supercritical CO₂ process to separate and decolour textiles, allowing fibres such as cotton and polyester to be recovered intact. This approach avoids the use of water and toxic chemicals, while enabling the recovered materials to be reintegrated into existing manufacturing systems without requiring new equipment.

Renasens has designed its solution as a modular system, making it adaptable to different production environments and suitable for deployment across fragmented supply chains.

Market Context / Industry Background

The textile industry generates significant waste, with millions of tonnes produced annually in Europe. However, only a small proportion of this waste is currently recycled into new fibres, largely due to technical limitations associated with processing mixed and treated materials.

At the same time, regulatory pressure is increasing. New EU requirements for textile collection and extended producer responsibility are expected to drive demand for more effective recycling solutions in the coming years.

The reliance on imported virgin materials, combined with environmental concerns, is also encouraging manufacturers to explore alternative sourcing options, including recycled fibres that can meet industrial standards.

In parallel, brands are facing increasing scrutiny from consumers and investors regarding their environmental impact, pushing sustainability higher on the strategic agenda. This is leading to greater interest in traceability, material transparency, and closed-loop production systems. Technological innovation is also playing a key role, with new processes emerging to separate and recover fibres from complex textile waste streams more efficiently. Scaling these solutions remains a challenge, particularly in terms of cost competitiveness and integration into existing supply chains. As a result, collaboration across the value chain—from collection and sorting to processing and manufacturing—is becoming essential to enable broader adoption and long-term impact.

Infrastructure gaps in collection and sorting systems continue to limit the availability of high-quality input materials, which affects the efficiency of recycling processes. At the same time, aligning recycled fibres with the performance and consistency requirements of industrial production remains a technical barrier. Overcoming these challenges will be critical to increasing recycling rates and reducing the industry’s dependence on virgin resources.

Founder / Investor Commentary

Dr Jade Bouledjouidja, founder and CEO of Renasens, described textile recycling as a long-standing technical and structural challenge. She noted that the company’s process is designed to make fibre recycling viable at industrial scale, enabling broader adoption across the industry.

She emphasized the importance of building both infrastructure and partnerships to support the integration of recycled materials into existing manufacturing systems.

Growth Plans / Use Of Funds

The funding will be used to develop a pilot facility in Borås, Sweden, which will serve as a key step in scaling the company’s technology. Renasens also plans to expand its supply of recycled fibres to manufacturers across Europe.

The company is already supplying materials to factories in Portugal and Italy and aims to increase production capacity to meet growing demand driven by regulatory changes and sustainability targets.
