Lucid Bots, a U.S.-based robotics company focused on real-world industrial applications, has raised $20 million in a Series B funding round to expand production of its cleaning drones and robots.
The round was co-led by Cubit Capital and Idea Fund Partners, bringing the company’s total funding to $34 million.
Real-World Robotics Over Hype
While much of the robotics industry is focused on humanoids and experimental demos, Lucid Bots is taking a different approach — deploying machines that perform practical, high-risk tasks like window cleaning.
CEO and founder Andrew Ashur emphasizes that the company’s focus is on delivering measurable results in real job environments, rather than building headline-driven prototypes.
Automating Dangerous And Manual Work
Lucid Bots develops and manufactures its own systems, including the Sherpa cleaning drone and the Lavo robot, which are used by professional cleaning companies.
These solutions are designed to make physically demanding and hazardous work safer and more efficient, particularly in industries facing labor shortages and increasing infrastructure complexity.
Rapid Growth In Demand
The company has seen a sharp increase in customer interest. After taking five years to sell its first 100 units, Lucid Bots is now approaching 1,000 units sold, reflecting accelerating market adoption.
Demand has grown to the point where the company is receiving more demo requests than it can currently handle, driving the need to expand both production capacity and team size.
From Cleaning Startup To Robotics Company
Founded in 2018, Lucid Bots initially operated as a cleaning service provider to better understand industry challenges firsthand.
This hands-on approach helped the team refine its technology and build solutions tailored to real-world use cases, rather than theoretical applications.
Expanding Beyond Window Cleaning
In addition to window cleaning, Lucid Bots is expanding into adjacent applications such as painting, waterproofing, and surface treatment.
The company is leveraging data collected from its robots to continuously improve performance and unlock new use cases, with early traction already emerging in areas like infrastructure maintenance.
Addressing Structural Industry Challenges
Lucid Bots is targeting a broader problem: aging infrastructure, increasing maintenance complexity, and a shrinking workforce willing to perform manual labor.
By introducing robotics into these workflows, the company aims to bridge the gap between growing demand and limited human capacity.
