Edra, a startup developing AI agents designed to automate business workflows, has raised $30 million in a Series A funding round led by Sequoia, with participation from 8VC and A*z.

The company is focused on transforming how organizations capture and apply operational knowledge by enabling AI systems to learn directly from existing business data.

What The Company Does

Edra builds AI agents that analyze how companies operate and convert that understanding into structured, executable workflows. Instead of relying on manually documented processes, the platform ingests data generated through daily operations, including emails, support tickets, logs, and internal communications.

Using this data, Edra constructs what it describes as a dynamic knowledge layer that reflects real-world workflows. This system translates operational patterns into clear, transparent instructions that AI agents can follow to perform tasks across different functions.

A key component of the platform is its ability to continuously update and refine this knowledge base. As employees interact with the system, it learns from new inputs and adapts accordingly, while remaining editable and auditable by teams.

Market Context / Industry Background

Many organizations struggle with fragmented and outdated process documentation, particularly as operations scale and become more complex. Traditional knowledge management systems often fail to capture how work is actually performed, leading to inefficiencies and reliance on informal expertise.

At the same time, the adoption of AI in enterprise environments is increasing, with growing interest in systems that can automate workflows beyond simple task execution. This has created demand for platforms that can translate operational knowledge into actionable, machine-readable formats.

Edra’s approach aligns with a broader shift toward systems that learn from real-time business activity, enabling automation that reflects current practices rather than static documentation.

Founder / Investor Commentary

Edra was founded by Eugen Alpeza and Yannis Karamanlakis, who previously led Forward Deployed AI Engineering teams at Palantir. Their experience working with large enterprises highlighted the challenges of capturing and scaling operational knowledge across organizations.

They identified that much of this knowledge remains embedded in day-to-day interactions rather than formal systems, making it difficult to standardize and automate. Edra’s platform is designed to address this gap by building a continuously evolving representation of how work is performed.

Luciana Lixandru, partner at Sequoia, emphasized the strength of the founding team, noting their complementary expertise in both commercial execution and technical development. She highlighted their ability to translate complex systems into practical solutions for enterprise customers.

Growth Plans / Use Of Funds

The funding will be used to further develop Edra’s platform, expand its engineering team, and scale deployments across enterprise customers. The company is already working with organizations such as HubSpot, ASOS, and Cushman & Wakefield.

In one implementation, Edra analyzed a large volume of support interactions, identified opportunities to improve internal knowledge resources, and reduced the need for manual intervention in customer service workflows. Initial use cases have focused on areas such as IT service management and technical support, where large datasets and repetitive processes create strong conditions for automation.

The company is also extending its platform into additional functions, including sales, where it uses call data to build structured knowledge systems that support decision-making and performance.
