Health Lean Analytics (HLA), a healthtech company focused on hospital data automation, has raised €2.1 million in funding, including a €1.4 million seed round backed by family offices such as Inderhabs, Namarel, and Braincats, alongside a loan from ENISA, Spain’s national innovation agency.

The funding will support international expansion and further development of its platform aimed at improving efficiency, safety, and data reliability in clinical environments.

What The Company Does

Founded in 2023, HLA develops technology to automate the capture and analysis of clinical and operational data within hospitals. Its platform is designed to reduce reliance on manual data entry, a process often associated with errors and inefficiencies in healthcare settings.

The system integrates IoT, advanced analytics, and AI to collect data in real time, particularly within operating rooms, where workflows are complex and resource-intensive. By automatically capturing information related to patients, surgical procedures, equipment, medications, and resource usage, the platform ensures that data is consistent, traceable, and readily accessible.

HLA’s software connects with existing hospital systems, consolidating data into a unified interface. Beyond aggregation, it analyzes patterns, predicts potential issues, and provides actionable recommendations tailored to different hospital teams, supporting more informed decision-making.

Market Context / Industry Background

Hospitals are increasingly under pressure to improve operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of patient care. Operating rooms represent one of the most critical and costly environments, where inefficiencies in scheduling, resource allocation, or data management can have significant financial and clinical consequences.

Despite advances in digital health, many hospitals still rely on fragmented systems and manual processes for data collection. This creates challenges in ensuring data accuracy, interoperability, and real-time visibility across departments.

The adoption of AI and automation technologies in healthcare is accelerating, particularly in areas where improved data quality can directly impact outcomes, cost control, and compliance. Solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing infrastructures while reducing administrative burden are gaining traction across healthcare systems.

Founder / Investor Commentary

Mauro Batesteza, co-founder and co-CEO of HLA, highlighted the strategic importance of the company’s partnership with Novanta, which has joined as a technology partner and board member. He noted that this collaboration strengthens HLA’s technological capabilities and provides additional resources to accelerate research and development.

Batesteza also pointed to the company’s plans to enter the U.S. market, describing it as a key step in demonstrating how the platform can improve hospital management through increased efficiency and enhanced quality of care.

John Lesica, Co-Chief Operating Officer of Novanta, emphasized the integration of sensing technologies with HLA’s analytics platform. He explained that combining real-time data capture with AI-driven insights creates a more connected system, enabling hospitals to link physical workflows with data-driven decision-making, particularly in operating room environments.

Growth Plans / Use Of Funds

The newly secured funding will be used to expand HLA’s international presence, with an initial focus on the United States. The company plans to begin commercial deployment in this market within the next 12 months.

In parallel, HLA will continue to invest in research and development to enhance its platform’s capabilities, particularly in areas related to predictive analytics and workflow optimization. Strengthening its technological infrastructure and scaling its team are also key priorities as the company moves into its next growth phase.
