Gumloop, a Vancouver-founded automation startup now headquartered in San Francisco, has raised $50 million in Series B funding to expand its platform that allows employees to create AI agents for workplace tasks.

The all-equity round was led by Benchmark, with participation from Nexus Venture Partners, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, Box Group, The Cannon Project, and Shopify Ventures. The company plans to use the funding to expand its go-to-market operations and grow its engineering and commercial teams across the United States and Canada.

What The Company Does

Gumloop develops software that enables employees within enterprise organizations to build AI agents capable of automating complex tasks.

The platform allows users to connect internal company data and systems to widely used AI models. Employees can then configure agents that perform workflows such as data analysis, operational tasks, or internal process automation.

Unlike developer-focused automation tools, Gumloop emphasizes accessibility for non-technical users. The system is designed with a user interface intended to allow employees across different departments to build and deploy AI agents without requiring extensive programming expertise.

Companies including Ramp, Shopify, and Instacart currently use the platform to support internal automation initiatives.

According to the company, adoption within organizations often begins with a small group of users experimenting with AI agents before expanding across larger teams.

Market Context / Industry Background

Enterprises are increasingly exploring ways to integrate artificial intelligence into everyday business workflows.

While early AI adoption focused largely on specialized technical teams, a growing number of platforms now aim to provide tools that allow broader groups of employees to create automation solutions.

These platforms often combine large language models with internal enterprise data, allowing organizations to build AI-driven workflows tailored to their specific operations.

Companies developing “AI agent” platforms are positioning their tools as productivity systems capable of automating routine digital tasks while allowing employees to focus on higher-level work.

Ease of use and accessibility have become key differentiators in this market, particularly for organizations seeking to deploy AI capabilities across non-technical teams.

Founder / Investor Commentary

Gumloop was founded in 2023 by McGill University classmates Max Brodeur-Urbas and Rahul Behal.

Brodeur-Urbas said the company’s goal is to make AI automation accessible to employees across entire organizations.

“It always starts with a few people building agents,” Brodeur-Urbas said. “Their coworkers get excited, the rest of the team starts building, and before you know it, the entire company is AI-native.”

Investor Ev Randle, general partner at Benchmark, said enterprises often highlight the platform’s balance between functionality and ease of use.

“When we asked enterprises why Gumloop has emerged as the primary AI platform for their employees, they consistently pointed to the product’s balance between powerful capabilities and ease of use,” Randle said.

First Round Capital partner Liz Wessel also emphasized the company’s focus on usability, noting that the team has remained focused on building tools that are accessible across organizations.

Growth Plans / Use Of Funds

Gumloop plans to invest the Series B funding in expanding its sales, marketing, and product development teams.

The company is also increasing hiring efforts across both the United States and Canada. Although Gumloop relocated its headquarters to San Francisco in 2025, the company plans to reestablish a presence in Vancouver and continue hiring Canadian talent.

Brodeur-Urbas said growing the company’s Canadian team remains an important priority.

“Giving Canadians the chance to join a fast-growing AI startup without needing to leave the country is a major goal of ours,” he said.

The company currently employs about 24 people and plans to expand its workforce as enterprise demand for its platform grows.

Earlier in its development, Gumloop had aimed to maintain a very small team, but Brodeur-Urbas said growing enterprise adoption has required additional personnel to support customers and scale operations.
