Berlin-based early-stage investor b2venture has closed its fifth fund at the €150M hard cap, marking the firm’s largest early-stage vehicle to date. Fund V is designed to back Europe’s next generation of technology leaders building scalable, defensible products and digital business models from the earliest stages.

The new fund brings together a mix of long-standing and new institutional backers, including asset manager Flexstone, Swiss pension fund Stiftung Abendrot, as well as experienced founders and operators from the b2venture ecosystem.

A continuation of a long-term venture philosophy

Founded in 2000, b2venture has built its reputation around early conviction investing and long-term founder support. According to partner Florian Schweitzer, Fund V represents a continuation of that philosophy, combining decades of experience with an intergenerational investor base rooted in the firm’s angel community.

The firm emphasizes continuity across capital cycles, positioning itself as a long-term partner rather than a short-term capital provider.

Positioning in a selective European VC market

Against the 2025–2026 European venture landscape, b2venture’s €150M Fund V places the firm among the larger early-stage investors successfully raising capital despite a more selective environment.

Recent comparable fundraises include London-based 2150 closing its €210M Fund II focused on urban and climate tech, Backed VC reaching an €86M hard cap for its third fund targeting DeepTech, and Keen Venture Partners launching a dedicated DefenseTech fund exceeding €150M. b2venture’s approach stands out for its generalist mandate and strong reliance on an active angel network.

A community-driven early-stage model

b2venture’s investment strategy is built around close collaboration with experienced entrepreneurs and operators who support sourcing, evaluation and hands-on backing of portfolio companies. Partner Jan-Hendrik Bürk highlights that this depth of operational insight allows the firm to support founders with domain expertise alongside capital.

With Fund V, the VC firm aims to reinforce this model and increase its capacity to support Seed and Series A-stage companies across Europe.
