Hamburg-based one.five has raised €14M in Series A funding to expand its AI-powered platform for packaging product development and strengthen its proprietary data foundation.

The company focuses on helping manufacturers overcome persistent product-market-fit challenges in the packaging industry.

The round was led by Dr Hans Riegel Holding, with participation from 212 NexT, Symbia VC, Btomorrow Ventures, KIMPA Impact, and Zubi Capital. Existing investors including Speedinvest, Planet A, Green Generation Fund, Climentum Capital, Revent, and WEPA also took part.

Addressing failure rates in packaging innovation

Founded in 2020 by Martin Weber and Claire Hae-Min Gusko, one.five applies AI to reduce the high failure rate of new packaging products. The company points to structural inefficiencies in packaging R&D, where a large share of development spending is allocated to products that never reach commercial success.

Despite growing sustainability commitments, only a small portion of global packaging meets environmental targets, while regulatory shifts, cost pressure, and changing consumer preferences continue to complicate product launches.

Embedding product-market fit into R&D

One.five’s platform is designed to integrate product-market fit directly into the development process. By translating technical requirements, regulatory constraints, cost targets, and consumer expectations into data-driven development profiles, the software aims to help R&D teams design market-ready packaging from the outset.

Its Product Market Fit Compass allows material and paper manufacturers to benchmark portfolios against brand requirements, identify high-potential solutions, and define concrete development targets aligned with market demand.

Commercial traction and early deployments

According to the company, early customers have used the platform to engage brand owners more strategically and improve internal development efficiency without building large in-house R&D teams. Pilot projects have shown faster time to market and reduced rates of failed product development.

In 2025, one.five launched two AI-developed alternative packaging materials, including a recyclable high-barrier solution for freshness and protection and a transparent, bio-based recyclable packaging. These materials have already been deployed in commercial applications by early customers across food, consumer goods, and industrial sectors.

Scaling the platform and expanding customers

The new funding will be used to further develop one.five’s AI platform, generate proprietary data through experiments and commercial deployments, and expand into additional customer segments. The company also plans to introduce new platform products for packaging converters and brand owners in the second half of 2026.

One.five says its goal is to help manufacturers and brands focus development efforts on packaging solutions with a clear path to market, revenue, and long-term sustainability.
