First Voyage, a consumer AI startup, has secured $2.5 million in seed funding to further develop its habit-building companion app, Momo Self Care.

The round was backed by a16z Speedrun, SignalFire, True Global, and additional angel investors.

Turning AI Into A Tool For Better Daily Routines

As AI-generated content floods digital channels, First Voyage is taking a different direction by using AI to encourage healthier routines rather than distraction. Its product, Momo Self Care, centers on a virtual companion called Momo a digital pet that users nurture while building habits they want to stick to.

Users define personal goals and daily tasks, and Momo acts as a gentle guide, offering reminders and encouragement. Completing tasks earns in-app rewards that can be used to customize Momo, blending habit formation with light gamification.

Beyond reminders, users can also chat with Momo about wellbeing, self-care, and personal goals. Based on these conversations, the AI suggests relevant habits and routines tailored to what users are trying to achieve.

Early Traction And User Behavior

According to co-founder and CEO Besart Çopa, who founded First Voyage alongside CTO Egehan Ozsoy, users have already created more than 2 million tasks on the platform.

The most common habit categories include productivity, mindfulness, and spirituality, indicating strong demand for tools that help users stay focused and intentional in their daily lives.

“Momo helps people grow into better versions of themselves, and in return users take care of Momo through attention, affection, and personalization,” Çopa explains.

A Different Take On AI Companions

While AI companions are gaining popularity, they have also raised concerns around emotional dependency and unhealthy dynamics. First Voyage positions Momo as a supportive assistant rather than a substitute for human relationships.

Çopa believes AI-human relationships will become more common but sees a positive shift toward wellness-focused applications. He also emphasizes that Momo includes built-in safety measures, such as prompt filtering, to keep interactions appropriate and constructive.

What The Funding Will Support

The newly raised capital will be used to expand Momo beyond iOS, with an Android launch planned next. The team will also invest in improving the AI’s ability to personalize interactions and better support users over time.

Looking ahead, First Voyage aims to grow Momo into a recognizable consumer brand that combines AI, animation, and gamified design to help people build sustainable habits and improve their everyday lives.
