Amsterdam-based Overstory has secured $43 million in Series B funding to scale its vegetation intelligence platform, which helps utilities reduce wildfire risk and strengthen grid reliability.
The round was led by Blume Equity, joined by Energy Impact Partners (EIP) and returning backers including B Capital, Semapa Next, Pale Blue Dot, CapitalT, Convective Capital, Bentley Systems, MCJ, and Moxxie Ventures.
AI Models Built to Prevent Outages Before They Happen
The platform uses high-resolution satellite data and proprietary AI models to map vegetation risk around power lines—enabling utilities to move from costly, reactive maintenance to precise, risk-based interventions. The company’s technology has become increasingly critical as climate-driven extreme weather intensifies and wildfire-related liabilities rise across global markets.
CEO Fiona Spruill says the new funding will accelerate development of Overstory’s predictive risk models and support deeper wildfire-prevention capabilities, while expanding deployment across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
Rapid Team Growth and New Leadership
After seven years of momentum, the company now employs more than 80 specialists across machine learning, data science, forestry, and wildfire management. The company recently appointed Tamara Mendelsohn as COO to support its next scale phase.
The startup operates from dual headquarters: Boston for the U.S. market and Amsterdam for Europe.
