Zurich-based AI startup Albatross has raised €10.5 million to advance its real-time product and content discovery platform, which learns, reasons, and adapts instantly to user behaviour.

The round was led by MMC Ventures, with participation from Redalpine, Daphni, and several strategic angel investors. It brings Albatross’ total funding to €13.5 million, following its €3 million foundation round in September 2024 led by Redalpine.

Founded in 2024 by former Amazon AI leaders Dr. Kevin Kahn and Dr. Matteo Ruffini, together with serial entrepreneur Johan Boissard, Albatross is addressing a gap in the current AI landscape.

Replacing Static Recommendations With Adaptive, Real-Time Intelligence

While much of today’s AI ecosystem centres on generative models, Albatross is building a complementary foundation: technology that understands how users interpret and interact with content as it happens.

Traditional recommendation systems rely on batch training and backward-looking signals such as popularity, similarity, or past behaviour. This makes them slow to adapt to real-time intent.

Albatross takes a different approach. Its platform uses transformer-based architecture and sequential embedding models trained directly on live user events, updating continuously in milliseconds — without retraining or manual tuning.

The result: feeds, search results, and recommendations that shift instantly as the user scrolls, browses, or clicks.

The platform is already processing billions of live interactions and generating tens of millions of predictions per month across global marketplaces, retail platforms, and travel companies — handling more than 100 million products and tens of millions of users.

Dr. Kevin Kahn, Co-founder and CEO of Albatross, said:
“Our system perceives and adapts instantly, so every search and feed reflects the user’s intent at that very moment. Many companies try to bolt AI onto existing systems, but the real opportunity is to rethink how digital experiences are shaped. Albatross learns and reasons in real time, understanding intent the moment it happens.”

Bringing Enterprise-Grade Discovery to Companies of All Sizes

The company offers two flagship products:

1. Real-Time Discovery Feed

A dynamic, continuously updating product and content feed that adapts to real-time signals.

2. Multimodal Search

A context-aware search engine that adjusts results as user intent evolves — incorporating text, behaviour, and image-based inputs. Designed for omnichannel environments, it can unify in-store and online discovery.

The platform is engineered for ultra-low latency and enterprise-scale workloads. Integrations typically take under seven weeks, and early pilots have shown triple-digit increases in engagement and product discovery.

Solving the Discovery Challenge for the AI-Driven Internet

As digital catalogues expand, discovery has become one of the defining challenges of modern commerce and content platforms. Albatross aims to make online experiences intelligent, adaptive, and aligned with real-time intent, empowering users to surface relevant products and information instantly.
