SpaceTech company U-Space has raised €24 million in Series A funding to scale production of its next-generation small satellites and expand internationally.

The round, advised exclusively by Avolta, will fund the company’s industrial ramp-up, software development, and continued digitalisation of its manufacturing infrastructure.

The investment round saw participation from Blast, Definvest, Expansion, CapSpace, ARIS, Primo Space, Audacia co-invest, and Vertech Finance, underscoring growing investor confidence in Europe’s NewSpace ecosystem.

“Avolta’s role was decisive in this fundraising. Their deep expertise in SpaceTech and ability to structure a complex operation were key to reaching this milestone,” said Fabien Apper, President and Co-founder of U-Space. “Their strategic guidance and commitment were invaluable in advancing our industrial and international ambitions.”

Strengthening Europe’s NewSpace momentum

This new round brings U-Space’s total funding to nearly €95 million, marking one of France’s most significant SpaceTech deals of 2025 alongside UNIVITY. Both highlight France’s strategic role in Europe’s push to expand its space manufacturing capabilities and compete globally.

According to EU-Startups, Europe’s SpaceTech market could reach a €515 billion valuation, as the continent accelerates efforts to strengthen industrial capacity amid rising competition from the US, UK, and Asia.

“Supporting U-Space perfectly illustrates our belief in French technological excellence,” said David-Cyriaque Laurent, Senior Partner at Avolta. “The management team’s ability to secure international contracts positions U-Space as a future global leader in NewSpace.”

Scaling for industrial production

Founded in 2018, the company designs, assembles, and operates modular small satellites for civil, commercial, and defense applications. Its 12U and FreeForm platforms combine flexibility, performance, and cost efficiency for constellation deployment.

In late 2024, U-Space inaugurated U-Zine, an 850 m² cleanroom facility in Toulouse featuring a fully digital, modular assembly line inspired by automotive manufacturing. The site is designed to reach one satellite per day at full capacity, a key step toward its goal of producing one satellite per week by 2027.

With three satellites already in orbit (NESS, Soap, and Pandore) and more than a dozen in production, U-Space manages the entire value chain — from design and assembly to in-orbit operation — and is now expanding into Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, where demand for sovereign and commercial space systems is accelerating.

Pioneering a digital, scalable satellite factory

The fresh funding will accelerate the digital transformation of U-Space’s industrial tools and advance software integration for automated production and constellation management.

“We are building the foundation for a new industrial era in European space manufacturing,” said Apper. “By combining modular engineering with digital production, we’re enabling faster, safer, and more accessible access to space.”
