Revyve, a Gelderland-based food tech startup, has secured €24 million in Series B funding to expand production of its yeast-derived egg replacement proteins.
The round brings the company’s total capital raised to over €40 million.
The raise was co-led by ABN AMRO Sustainable Impact Fund and Invest-NL, with the latter contributing €7 million. Other participants included Brabant Development Agency (BOM), Lallemand Bio-Ingredients, Grey Silo Ventures, and existing backers Oost NL and Cosun Strategic Ventures.
Functional yeast proteins as egg alternatives
Founded in 2020 and led by Cedric Verstraeten, Revyve develops functional yeast proteins designed to mimic the binding and texturizing properties of eggs in products such as baked goods, sauces, dairy alternatives, and meat substitutes.
Unlike many substitutes, Revyve’s proteins are natural, clean-label, competitively priced, and scalable, helping food producers navigate three key challenges: volatile egg prices, the demand for fewer additives, and pressure to cut CO₂ emissions across the supply chain.
“Food manufacturers are cutting back on eggs to manage rising costs and meet sustainability targets — but eggs are hard to replace,” said Verstraeten. “Our yeast proteins deliver the texture and functionality consumers expect, while offering a scalable, affordable, and sustainable alternative.”
Scaling production
In 2024, Revyve commissioned its first-of-a-kind production facility in Dinteloord, which is already operating at full capacity for multiple customers. With the fresh capital, the company plans to expand annual output to 1,600 tons, ensuring reliable global supply.
“Strong regional support from Wageningen and Brabant has helped us reach industrial scale in record time,” Verstraeten added. “This round sets a solid foundation for global expansion.”
