Andrei Serban, previously a product lead at Rippling, has launched Console—a startup designed to free IT help desks from repetitive tasks using AI. The company just raised $6.2 million in seed funding led by Thrive Capital.

Console’s AI agent integrates seamlessly with Slack, allowing employees to request support directly. It can resolve over half of all requests automatically, from password resets to access permissions, reducing response times and boosting IT team efficiency. For complex issues, it routes requests to human IT professionals.

Competing with incumbents through speed and simplicity

Unlike competitors that require major onboarding or infrastructure changes, the firm’s value lies in rapid deployment. “We don’t ask you to replace your help desk,” said Serban. Customers like Scale AI, Flock Safety, and Calendly were drawn to its lightweight setup and effectiveness.

Backing from major AI-focused VC

Thrive Capital, known for investing in AI leaders like OpenAI and Scale AI, believes Console’s model will deepen its relevance over time. Partner Vince Hankes emphasized how fast iteration and usage data can make the platform indispensable to clients.

Future plans: Expanding into HR, finance, and legal support

The company aims to become the default interface for employee support across multiple departments. “We want Console to be an employee’s first call for help,” Serban added.
