ARX Robotics, a Munich-based defence tech startup specialising in autonomous land systems, has raised €31 million in a Series A round led by HV Capital, with participation from Omnes Capital, Project A, and existing backers including the NATO Innovation Fund.
The fresh capital will be used to scale production, accelerate European expansion, and strengthen ARX’s AI-driven defence technologies. The company also plans to invest further in top European AI talent and expand the capabilities of its flagship product, ARX Mithra OS, the world’s first independent AI operating system for legacy military vehicles.
“Europe can build world-class defence technology — modern, AI-native, and sovereign. ARX is proof of that,” said Fabian Gruner, Partner at HV Capital.
Building the Backbone of European Defence Autonomy
Founded by Marc Wietfeld, Stefan Roebel, and Maximilian Wied, ARX Robotics designs modular unmanned ground systems (UGVs) that can be rapidly deployed for reconnaissance, surveillance, transport, CASEVAC (casualty evacuation), training, and simulation missions.
Key milestones:
- Seven European armed forces are currently deploying, procuring, or testing ARX systems.
- The company completed the largest Western UGV deployment in Ukraine.
- ARX was selected by the European Defence Agency for the EU’s first-wide defence innovation program.
- Its technology could retrofit over 50,000 NATO vehicles with AI capabilities.
Recently, ARX Robotics also opened a major production facility near Munich, boosting its unmanned systems manufacturing capacity by 30x over the past six months.
“We’re building the next generation of defence infrastructure through scalable robotics and software,” said CEO Marc Wietfeld. “This funding moves us from successful pilots to industrial scale.”
With Europe prioritising strategic autonomy amid rising geopolitical tensions, ARX Robotics is positioning itself at the core of a modern, AI-powered defence renaissance — and this €31M raise is its launchpad.
