Neurolabs, one of the UK’s fastest-growing deeptech startups, has raised $7.8 million in Series A funding to scale its AI-powered retail analytics platform. The round was led by Nauta Capital, with participation from LAUNCHub Ventures, Lunar Ventures, and Techstart, bringing the company’s total funding to over $12 million.
Neurolabs is reinventing retail execution with its Image Recognition-as-a-Service (IRaaS) platform—powered by synthetic data and 3D digital twins—to solve one of the consumer goods industry’s biggest pain points: the inefficiencies in field data collection and product visibility across stores.
A New Standard in Retail Image Recognition
Founded in 2018 by Paul Pop (CEO), Patric Fulop (CTO), and Remus Pop (CRO)—a trio with deep backgrounds in AI, machine learning, and finance—Neurolabs was born out of the University of Edinburgh and has since become a global leader in visual AI for the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) sector.
Traditional image recognition systems, the team found, were slow, costly, and failed to scale in dynamic environments where SKUs and packaging change constantly. Neurolabs’ breakthrough: replacing manual data collection with synthetic images, allowing brands to train AI models with high accuracy in a fraction of the time and cost.
“We’re solving an $800 billion problem in global CPG supply chains,” said CEO Paul Pop. “By leveraging synthetic data and Visual AI, we’re enabling brands to gain real-time visibility into shelf execution and act on it instantly.”
From Shelf to Strategy in Minutes, Not Days
Neurolabs’ flagship platform, ZIA, integrates directly into enterprise systems to automate retail audits and analytics across inventory, pricing, and promotions. Its synthetic training datasets—like NLB200k, Nuke1.0, and Nuke2.0—combine real-world and procedurally generated retail scenes to power fine-grained product detection and compliance at scale.
Key benefits reported by CPG customers include:
- 93% faster product onboarding
- 32% reduction in field operations costs
- Instant visibility from store visit to action, cutting time from days to minutes
ZIA also integrates with leading tools like Aforza Studio, enabling real-time, cross-market analytics that help brands adapt and execute faster than ever before.
Global Growth, Strategic Backing
With new funding, Neurolabs plans to expand its computer vision engineering team, grow its commercial operations in the UK, Europe, and the US, and deepen partnerships with major CPG and retail tech companies.
Already, Neurolabs counts a US soft drinks giant, a top European brewing company, and a major UK beverage brand among its customers—all using the platform to improve on-shelf availability and streamline field execution.
“Neurolabs is setting a new bar for retail AI,” said Carles Ferrer, General Partner at Nauta. “Their synthetic data pipeline is solving real enterprise problems, and their growth trajectory speaks to the strength of both their product and team. We’re thrilled to support them at this next stage.”
Neurolabs isn’t just automating image recognition—it’s redefining how brands measure and respond to retail performance. With synthetic data as its engine and AI as its core, the company is poised to make retail smarter, faster, and far more efficient.
